Delicious brownies topped with a rich caramel swirl. Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (75 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, for caramel
  • 1 cup (220 g) dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) toasted walnuts, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (45 g) dark chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch pan, lining it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter and stir in 1 cup dark brown sugar over medium heat until bubbling for 3–4 minutes. Slowly whisk in 1/2 cup heavy cream and 1 tsp sea salt, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter, 1 cup granulated sugar, and 2 eggs until light and glossy. Add 1 tsp pure vanilla extract.
  4. Sift 3/4 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 tsp baking powder, and 1/4 tsp salt over the wet mixture and fold gently until just combined.
  5. If desired, fold in toasted walnuts and dark chocolate chips.
  6. Spread the brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan, drizzle the warm caramel over the top, and swirl with a knife.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes until the edges are set, then let cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
