Description

A delicious chocolate cake made with cocoa powder and frosted with a creamy butter frosting.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 9 inch cake pans.
  2. Whisk flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Mix eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla then combine with dry ingredients until smooth.
  4. Divide batter evenly and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until set then cool completely.
  5. Beat butter, powdered sugar, and cream until fluffy then frost cooled cake layers.

Notes

  • Be sure to let the cake layers cool completely before frosting.
  • You can add chocolate shavings or sprinkles on top for decoration.
